Threads of Whātonga

May - July 2023

About the exhibition

Threads of Whātonga brings together historical and contemporary art to mark the occasion of Marlborough’s first purpose-built art gallery opening in central Blenheim. Art works on show were gifted to our former premises at the Millennium Public Art Gallery in Seymour Square and form part of the gallery’s permanent collection. Mana Whenua opened the former art gallery in 1999 and are partners in this project. Threads of Whātonga includes works from mana whenua exhibitions held at the gallery to mark significant events over the last two decades. This exhibition acknowledges the relationships, stories and experiences of the past, which we are mindful of as we make our next steps.
