The Award culminates in The Adam Portraiture Award exhibition in which all the finalists and the winners are shown at the New Zealand Portrait Gallery. It presents a breadth of responses to identity and representation.

2020 judges were (Karen Quinlan, Director of the National Portrait Gallery of Australia, and Linda Tyler, convenor of Museums and Cultural Heritage at the University of Auckland) selected finalists from a record number of entries. A national touring exhibition of 30 of the 50 finalist’s works will be on show over summer at the Millennium Public Art Gallery.
